Caught up wit some friendz at Troy's shop opening
Troy is a shaper, designer & ripper based out of Costa Mesa. We met a couple years ago when I moved back to Costa Mesa from LA. I worked out of the office in his shop for a bit and we worked on videos and things together for his label. I was obviously attracted to his Frye / Pavel inspired school of thought but also the adaptation of those designs that he had to his surfing environment. Newport & HB. Making things that work, and work really really well. Clean flowing concaves and rockers, proven designs and the ability to back them up with his high level of surfing. Troy's boards are meticulous and an extreme attention to detail and really high level finish work. I learned a lot by just watching how he operates and I hold him with very high regard when it comes to not only being an amazing shaper, but a really amazing family man and Dad.
